The government has also introduced a number of measures which you may be able to access, including Tax penalty breaks for businesses impacted by COVID-19, Wage Subsidy and Essential Workers Leave Support and a Business Finance Guarantee Scheme for small and medium businesses.
$585 per week is on offer for full time employees and $350 for part-time employees. This is uncapped and available to all employers, contractors, sole-traders and the self-employed where your business has been impacted by a 30% decline in revenue due to COVID-19. Read more here
In these challenging and uncertain times there are a number of cash flow and tax measures to support your business which you can discuss with your bookkeeper or accountant including:
• Inland Revenue will be looking into businesses that have been significantly impacted and may reduce use-of-money interest (UOMI)
• Tax savings through the provisional tax threshold increasing from $2,500 to $5,000 from 2020/2021.
• Tax savings through the small asset depreciation threshold will be increasing from $500 to $1,000 — and to $5,000 for the 2020/21 tax year.
• Tax savings through depreciation on commercial and industrial buildings from 2020/2021.
• Increased accessibility on from the In-Work Tax Credit (IWTC) by removing the hours test from 1 July 2020.
